The honorable Bishop Theodore L. Brooks Sr. is truly an anointed servant of God. As many great men do, he wears many hats, serving not only the men and women of the congregation, but the community at large.
With the lovely Lady L. Janice Brooks at his side, he is the pastor of Beulah Heights First Pentecostal Church in New Haven, Connecticut, USA. He is also the Diocesan of the Connecticut District Council of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc. (P.A.W.).
Bishop Brooks is also the President/CEO of Beulah Land Development Corporation (BLDC), founded to create revitalized communities of choice in otherwise distressed communities via affordable housing, economic development, and job opportunities. BLDC has provided affordable home ownership through its development of The Orchard Street Townhomes: 20 brand-new three-story town homes that feature 1,500 square feet of living space, 3 bedrooms, 1.5 baths, and new appliances – sold to low income and moderate income families. The corporation also developed The Walter S. Brooks Elderly Homes at Ormont Court, a supportive, 12 unit, elderly housing development that filled the void that exists due to limited availability of safe, affordable rental housing for senior citizens in the City of New Haven. BLDC’s most recent project is the redevelopment of a Brownfield’s site to provide accessible community based medical services. The development will not only provide a much needed service to the area’s new families and elderly residents, but will also add new job opportunities.
Bishop Brooks’ service does not stop at the church. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for many organizations in New Haven, including Yale-New Haven Hospitals Trustee Board and Medical Committee, the City of New Haven’s Board of Police Commissioners, Police and Fire Pension Board, the Board of Directors for the Community Foundation for greater New Haven. He’s a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors, and International Association of Christian Clinical Counselors. Within his church organization, Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc., he sits on the Board of Bishops, the Connecticut District Council Board of Directors, the Aenon Bible College Board of Directors and the Chair Budget and Finance Committee.
Bishop Brooks continues to seek opportunities to enlarge his territory; extend his “tent stakes”. He is also spreading the Good News of the Gospel of Christ through his own evangelistic vehicle – T.L. Brooks Ministries: A Garment of Praise which was founded in the summer of 2002. Through T.L. Brooks Ministries, he hopes to target the masses across the globe via the message that no person, no problem, or life circumstance is out of the reach of the life changing touch of Almighty God; who already, willingly paid the price to do whatever needs to be done. Under T.L. Brooks Ministries, he has authored two books: Complete In God: The Apostolic Faith Challenge, and Pleasing God: Striving For Spiritual Excellence. A third book, In The Lion’s Den, is due to be published in the near future.
Bishop Brooks is the father of three sons and nine grandchildren – Jordan, Jocelyn, Theodore III, William, Lindsey, Ramiah, Chelsea, Paige and the late Michael Brooks. Bishop Brooks has a B.A., M.A., D. MIN as well as a Ph.D. in Religious Studies. His many awards consist of:
